Say My Name

A favourite choice for contemporary spaces, Say My Name is as practical as it is beautiful. Few lamps have been able to blur the boundaries between art and design so perfectly, and inspire designers and glass artists to combine their skills. Morten & Jonas created the design in Norway, then entrusted the manufacturing to master glassblowers in Venice. The glassblowers use time-honoured art techniques to craft each lamp individually. As a result, each lamp is unique, but the colour, proportions and shape are standard for each and every lamp they create.

Unika

Unika is a mouth blown series of small, glass pendant lamps, originally designed for the Restaurant Grønbech and Churchill in Copenhagen. Its simple base is made of solid brass; a detail that gives the lamp a clean, industrial look, making a sharp contrast to the fragile, handmade glass lamp shade. The shade is available in two sizes: 135 mm and 200 mm (height), and hangs from a twisted black fabric wire.
Varied thicknesses and imperfections in the glass add a subtle honesty to this object, as well as a distinct, warm glow to the lamp.

Dahl Large

2016 marked the centenary of Birger Dahl’s birth, which Northern commemorated with the launch of this timeless glass pendant. Dahl designed the lamp in 1956 and installed it in the renovated Norwegian Parliament building two years later. Although Dahl is a classic mid-century design, its minimal form and smooth, unembellished surfaces still have a contemporary appearance today. The shade is made from mouth-blown glass and etched by a surface treatment that creates a smooth matt finish. Dahl’s metal parts are white, dark grey or made in matt brass.

Evergreen

Evergreen’s classic design revisits the clean lines and classic shapes of the past, revealing how relevant they are to the interiors we live in today. Originally, pendant lamps were created to provide an industrial overhead light source, but gradually became style statements in themselves. Made in brass and crafted with a streamlined shade, Evergreen revives the beauty of understated materials and functional design. Evergreen is practical too, made in two sizes to spread overall ambient light or direct it onto specific areas.

Scheisse

One of our largest pendant lamps, Scheisse is a striking design with lots of impact. Made in the shape of a light bulb, the shade is crafted from shards of aluminium that appear to be exploding outwards. Each individual piece is held in place by a metal rod and painted white on both sides to reflect the light and project it downward.
Scheisse’s iconoclastic design brings Pop Art to mind, creating an eye-catching light that’s functional and fun.

Meld

Lighter, brighter and more popular than ever, stoneware continues to be a favourite material for quality lighting. In the hands of designers NoiDoi, the material is used to focus and direct light, making it a natural choice for a pendant lamp. The design is comprised of two parts, each one expertly pressed, cut and glazed to meld together into a single, harmonious whole. Each lamp is robust in shape and underpinned by a finely-crafted feel. The top portion of the shade is available in a powder grey or dusty blue, complementing a lower part made in classic off-white.

Dokka

Dokka is a small light with a big history. Designed in 1954, Dokka was the first lamp from Norway to receive a Golden Medal award at the prestigious Triennale di Milano. Acclaimed for its smooth contours, precise proportions and sleek handling of materials, Dokka had the potential to become a design classic from day one. Dokka became one of the best-selling pendant lamps ever produced in Norway, then disappeared when the previous manufacturer discontinued their lighting range.

In 2007, Northern re-launched Dokka, taking care to preserve the features that made it a design classic.

Acorn

Acorn’s streamlined shape was inspired by a natural form, giving it organic contours and an understated profile. The shade resembles the empty shell of an acorn, which becomes hollow once the ripened nut has broken free. Like an acorn’s stem, the top of the shade tapers into a tactile shape. Streamlined and sophisticated, the lamp is suspended from the ceiling by a silk cord that conceals the power cable inside it. The lamp attaches to the ceiling with a ceiling canopy crafted in the same style as the shade.
